Senior and Sixth Form admissions
“ The balance of a nurturing yet challenging school environment is what makes us so successful here. Our girls are treated as individuals. They grow and realise what they're capable of, and are inspired to be successful young women of the future.”Hadrian Briggs, Acting Head
Joining in Year 7
Girls wishing to join us in Year 7 from schools other than Royal High Prep School need to take our entrance assessment and will be invited for an interview. The interviews give girls an opportunity to demonstrate skills not revealed in written papers and ask any questions of their own. Students will be asked to prepare a three-minute talk and bring along something of which they are proud. Boarding candidates who are unable to visit the School for assessments can sit assessments at British Council offices, approved agencies or their current schools. Please contact our admissions team if you have any questions.
Joining in Year 8 and beyond
All girls joining Royal High School are invited for taster days throughout the year to experience what life would be like in their year group here. Girls wishing to join us in Years 8, 9 and 10 are required to sit assessments in English and Mathematics. Girls entering Years 9 and 10 also have to complete Science assessments in addition to English and Maths. Current schools will be asked for a report on students' progress and candidates might also have an interview with the Head of Modern Languages to assess their language ability. If you have any queries at all, please get in touch with our admissions team.
Joining our Sixth Form
If you'd like to join our thriving Sixth Form, please arrange a personal tour with us where you'll get to chat to our passionate members of staff as well as current girls. You'll meet the Head of Sixth Form, and the Head of IB. We run Information Evenings throughout the year to tell you more about our unique choice of A Level and IB Diploma pathways. Following your visit, we'll arrange an interview with a senior member of the Sixth Form team.
Entry into Royal High School is dependent on a minimum of six GCSEs at grade 6 and above (or equivalent qualifications) and candidates are expected to achieve grade 7 in subjects they wish to study at A Level or IB. You'll need a minimum of a grade 4 in both English and Mathematics. We also refer to predicted grades and references from your current school. Some students will be required to take papers to assess their ability in English, Maths and option subjects. An online interview may be requested for overseas students. Please contact our admissions team if you have any questions.
