Bath Young Musician of the Year 2022
Sixth Form, Senior School, Music
Year 13 student Megan was one of the finalists in the Mid-Somerset Festival’s Bath Young Musician of the Year event on Wednesday 12 October at the Pump Room.
Megan won the Cello class and played Bach’s Prelude from Suite No 4 on the Cello alongside five other exceptional instrumentalists from different schools across the city. The competing musicians were all high achievers from the Mid-Somerset Festival’s senior instrumental classes which took place earlier in the year.
The Mid-Somerset Festival nurtures musicians and performers of all ages, abilities, and levels of experience. The autumn competitions honour gifted and talented high achieving students, many of whom step into a professional career soon afterwards.
“ The standard of music performed takes many years of dedication and hard work to achieve. We are very proud of Megan for taking part in this event. It has been wonderful to see her grow and develop her unique talent while she has been a student with us and to have the opportunity to perform in such a prestigious event.”
Megan said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to be able to play as part of the Bath Young Musician of the Year competition. I found the adjudicators’ comments especially helpful to enable me to improve my playing, and it was amazing speaking to the other competitors who share the same passion for music.”
