Biology field trip to Folly Farm
Sixth Form, Senior School, STEM
33 Year 12 A-Level and IB Biology students travelled to Folly Farm, a fully sustainable and eco-friendly venue based in 250-acres of beautiful nature reserve in the heart of Somerset.
Folly Farm is owned by Avon Wildlife Trust, with all profits going towards restoring local habitats so that wildlife can thrive.
Students carried out various sampling techniques to investigate the impact of human land management on Biodiversity, the effect of soil moisture on distribution of plant species, as well as investigating the impact of light, temperature and soil pH. Students also carried out badger watching and badger culling debates, all while completing coursework for the A-Level and IB course. We were blessed with some lovely spring weather and amazingly didn’t get wet once!
