Catering gets a revamp
Senior School
What's new in catering?
The food students love to eat
The catering team are looking forward to welcoming all the girls back to fully open dining halls and café at the Senior and Prep Schools this term. A lot of work has been done over the summer holidays to develop all our menus and the Sixth Form Café offer. We'll be asking for students' opinions on food and nutrition during the Autumn term via surveys and the Student Voice food committee to make sure we are offering them the food they love to eat, while also providing the essential balance and nutrition for growing bodies and minds.
Focusing on the environment
There is a strong focus on our environmental impact, food waste and disposable packaging initiatives working with School ‘Eco Team’ support. The new Senior School timetable will allow the girls time to attend clubs and activities, get outside for fresh air and have time to sit down to a hot lunch every day. Packed lunches will continue to be available for off-site trips and away team sports fixtures.
Taking the 4R approach
At the Senior School, the break time snacks and Sixth Form Café offer have been updated with our new 4 Rs approach:
Refuel – to top up energy levels
Recover – a balance of protein and carbs for muscles
Revitalise – packed with vitamins and minerals for body growth
Retreat – something indulgent to be eaten in moderation.
The Café is introducing a new deli sandwich and panini bar menu this term with pastries, smoothies and shakes on offer and the girls will help to develop and refine this in the coming months.
Cashless catering
The school is now a cashless site and our new cashless catering cards will be issued during the first 2 days of term. They will be used for all things catering: in the main dining hall by boarders for all meals, day girls in years 7-11 for lunch and Sixth Form girls who have purchased school lunch for the term. The cards will also have a separate cash account that you can top up through your ParentPay account. This account will be used by the girls to buy break time snacks in the dining hall and the Sixth Form girls to purchase items from the café or ad hoc lunches. It will also be used by girls who book in for breakfast or supper to attend out-of-hours activities. Please be reassured that if your daughter mislays or forgets her card she will not miss lunch and if the cash account balance is low will not miss her break time snack. We will always ensure the girls are given lunch and the catering and finance staff will sort out any difficulties afterwards.
