Roman history brought to life for Year 6 Latin class
Prep
On Monday 6th March, Year 6 arrived for their Latin lesson with Dr McCarthy, modelling their best Roman outfits. Dr Kate Holden joined the class on Teams from the Great North Museum Hancock in Newcastle. She used evidence from the museum to show us how archaeologists learn about Roman Britain. Then Year 6 worked as independent researchers, ably assisted by our Year 12 Latin students.
The girls examined tombstones from Hadrian’s Wall and discovered that men, women and even children came from all over the Empire to live in Roman Britain. There are definitely some budding archaeologists in this year group. With thanks to Dr Holden and the Year 12 helpers - Rose, Jess, Maddie (honorary Classicist) and Maya.
