Computer Science class discuss 'how random are you'?
Senior School
In a recent Computer Science Aspire Lecture, two of our Sixth Form students, Lottie and Tashie, delivered a talk on "Rock, Paper, Scissors", its history and origins, and the strategies that people use either consciously or subconsciously. They also discussed the subject of whether we can ever be completely random.
The class talked about what can be truly ever be random, as this is important for the generation of keys for encryption, and learnt about how some companies are using nature to generate randomness from Lava lamps, radioactive decay or chaotic pendulums.
