Dance Scholars deliver dance showcase at Beacon Rise Primary School
Senior School, Performing Arts
Seven Royal High dance scholars from years 7 and 8 along with Mrs Maycroft travelled to Beacon Rise Primary School in Bristol recently to deliver a dance showcase and a samba lesson.
We were invited to the school in order to help their pupils complete their Cultural Passport. The aim of the cultural passport is to introduce students to experiences they may not otherwise get, such as visiting a museum or seeing a dance show in real life. The year 2 pupils were enthralled by the dance performances and both the children and staff were impressed by the skills the girls demonstrated.
After the performances Mrs Maycroft held a Samba masterclass, where she and the dancers taught the 90 year 2 students how to dance the samba. Much fun was had both learning moves and choreographing their own moves and the end product was a joyful samba!
We had a great time at Beacon Rise and were extremely proud of our Dance Scholars.
