Weekend fun and relaxation for our Boarders
Senior School, Boarding
This weekend saw our boarders finding different ways to relax and unwind. On Saturdays, breakfast is served a little later than usual at 08:30, followed by prep for School House. Boarders then have free time to choose what they would like to do.
In the afternoon, our younger boarders took part in an Easter basket making activity. It was entirely organised and led by our Sixth Form boarding prefects who turned up fully armed with arts and crafts materials, and made sure our Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 boarders were all involved and having fun colouring and making paper baskets for an egg hunt later in the week.
In the evening School House competed in a whole-house quiz night with rounds for music, sports, landmarks, and more. While the girls were slightly competitive, the overall feel was laidback and fun with lots of discussions, chatting and laughter. The groups were organised by year with the Year 9s eventually being awarded the winners.
“ Our girls especially enjoyed exploring, Tornado Springs, a newly opened ‘land’ with that is targeted towards older children and teenagers, which certainly appealed to their sense of adventure..”
On Sunday all of Year 7 to Year 11 had a day trip out to Paultons Park in Romsey. While Paultons is probably best known as the home of Peppa Pig World, with over 60 rides and attractions, and several ‘lands’ to choose from, there was still plenty that appealed to older children and teenagers. Our girls especially enjoyed exploring, Tornado Springs, a newly opened ‘land’ with that is targeted towards older children and teenagers, which certainly appealed to their sense of adventure.
They enjoyed various rollercoaster style rides with exciting names like Storm Chaser, a spinning roller coaster that twists and turns, making you feel like you are caught in a real storm, and Windmill Towers, two exhilarating drop towers that bounce you up, down and up again! Some of the girls even managed to persuade our Boarding Assistants, Miss Lambe and Miss Roberts, to join them!
There were also more gentle rides for those who preferred these including a boat ride, a short walk along the river and a number of fairground games. For some of the students, the best part of the trip was winning stuffed animal toys as prizes.
On Monday night, we used the Easter baskets we made over the weekend for an egg-citing Easter egg hunt and the Year 7s and Year 8s had an enjoyable time searching School House for paper cut-outs of Easter eggs which were exchanged for chocolate eggs at the
