Girls in Tech at University of the West of England

STEM, Girls in STEM

Year 7 and 8 girls enjoyed a stimulating day out at the University of the West of England's inaugural Girls in Tech event.

During the trip, organised by the Computer Science department, the girls had the opportunity to speak to undergraduates studying Games Technology (and try out some of their creations), design and plan a net zero city, choose how a company should respond to a debilitating cyberattack and complete an escape room challenge using binary decoding and cryptography skills.

A highlight was interacting with Pepper the robot who - despite entreaties from the girls - was not willing to dance on this occasion!

Throughout the day the girls got to experience the buzz of campus life and speak to students and employers involved with many different aspects of technology.
