150 Years - celebrating a milestone in girls' education
Sixth Form, Senior School, Nursery and Prep School
Across the 25-strong network of GDST Schools, this week we all came together for an Assembly to mark 150 years of the Girls' Day School Trust and its founding ethos to help girls learn without limits.
Led by Chief Executive, Cheryl Giovannoni, we reflected on the vast number of students who have had a GDST education and now make up our 70,000+ strong alumnae. Our transformative Bursaries programme allows us to give a GDST education, regardless of a family's circumstances - currently, we provide 1,100 of these life-changing bursaries nationwide.
We heard from students across the network, including Alice in Year 6 at the Prep who spoke about what she believes a GDST girl to be.
The clearest, and most inspirational message of all was:
“ You are the generation who will go on to make our world a better place - not just for girls, but for us all.”~ Cheryl Giovannoni, GDST Chief Executive
Throughout the coming academic year all GDST schools will be fundraising to create another 150 bursaries to enable more girls to access our education programme - here in Bath we are planning social events, and fundraising of our own and look forward to drawing our community together to celebrate all that is great about being 'a GDST girl'.
