A joyful afternoon of House Dance and Drama
Senior School, Performing Arts
Our House Dance and Drama competition saw girls from all four houses performing a 15-minute dance theatre show on a theme of the choice. Bronte’s was a reinterpretation of ‘Matilda’, Austen was based on ‘Frozen’, Wollstonecraft chose ‘Aladdin’, and Du Pre presented their version of ‘Moana’. The shows were all created and choreographed by the girls themselves with the House Prefects and Sixth form leading.
House Dance and Drama is a well-established school competition and always a lively affair, watched by the whole Senior school and staff, building a great sense of community within the school. This year’s competition was particularly exciting, as the whole school competition has not been able to go ahead since before the pandemic.
There is a trophy for the winner and is judged by staff from all four Houses: our Head of Drama, Mrs Vincent-Norgate; Head of Admissions and Marketing, Mrs Taylor; Head of Dance, Miss Kovacs; and Director of Music, Mr Bradbury.
“ “It was absolutely wonderful to spend an afternoon surrounded by the students of each house presenting their chosen musical for the House Competition. The collaboration, confidence, community spirit, the student leadership and the joy that surrounded the performances demonstrated everything valuable about Dance and Drama within the curriculum. Well Done to all!””Mrs Vincent-Norgate, Head of Drama
