Enterprising Year 12s pitch their ideas at London School of Economics
Sixth Form
A group of nine enterprising Year 12s from RHSB visited the London School of Economics this week as part of the GDST LEAD programme (Leadership and Enterprise Advanced Diploma). Girls from across the GDST were gathered to take part in a Dragon's Den-style 'final showcase.'
Since September the girls have been meeting weekly to learn about entrepreneurship and develop their own business plan, with the added challenge of having to come up with an original idea that was sustainable and aligned with the UN Sustainability Goals.
The LSE showcase event was the culmination of their hard work. The girls pitched their ideas to a judging panel in front of a 100+ crowd. They held their nerves, even during the challenging questions from the judges.
A chance to soak up the atmosphere of LSE's campus during lunch was followed by an inspiring afternoon speech from Jasmine Schembri, who shared her entrepreneurial highs and lows as founder of teen health app 'We Are Luna.'
RHSB didn't take home the prize, but the stars were definitely aligned as the train home was on-time, meaning some of the girls could jet from the train station straight to KES to play in the Charity Netball tournament!
