Annual Dance Show
Sixth Form, Senior School, Nursery and Prep School, Performing Arts
On 17th Thursday March, we held our annual dance show with a cast and crew of over 140 students.
With a ‘Broadway’ Theme, we were pleased to have the Junior School join us again with a fabulous collection of numbers choreographed by Miss Debby. We were also thrilled to welcome back RHS Alumna Safiya Kinshasa who now works in part as a professional dancer and choreographer. These very special guests brought us pieces from the shows; ‘Saturday Night Fever’, ‘42nd Street’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Lion King’.
The Senior Girls created a further 26 numbers - put together throughout the year as part of clubs, classes, companies and coursework. Our three Y13 Dance Captains (Alex, Alice and Emma) all created choreography for the production as well as dancing themselves and I am so proud of them and grateful for their hard work this year. Our Musical Theatre Dance Group also deserve recognition for performing as part of the 2000+ dancers at the Dance Umbrella event just two nights before! Well done to Libby, Kitty, Tilly, Hattie, Amber, Alisha and Lucy from Y7 for your extra-busy week of dance.
To those girls who took part as an ensemble to create something extra-ordinary or were brave enough to perform a very special solo, to those who created their own piece or dedicated their lunchtimes/after school to learning from dance leaders, to those who scurried backstage and fine-tuned the technical details – to you all, an enormous well done! The audience loved it and you made me very proud indeed. – Miss Lucy Thynne, Subject Leader, Dance.
