Author Robin Stevens Visits RHS

Earlier this month we were lucky to be visited by Robin Stevens, author of the popular Wells & Wong series. Her first book, ‘Murder Most Unladylike’, about two girls, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong, who attempt to solve a murder mystery at their boarding school, is on the shortlist for the GDST ‘Best of the Best’ book award. This is a new award which has been created by the GDST librarians and was launched for Years 7 and 8 last year.

Robin was met and welcomed to the school by our very own Daisy Wells in Year 8, and was given a tour around the school by some wonderfully enthusiastic Year 8 students who filmed her in different locations which they thought would make good crime locations for stories. She gave a talk to Year 7 and 8 about her books, her inspiration for them and her plans for other publications. She also spoke about how to create a murder mystery and the group came up with their own plot, this time based in a hotel and involving an elderly lady and her daughter-in-law… She answered questions and finished with a book signing.

Robin has written four titles, all of which have been very popular and copies can be found in the school library. Other books on the GDST shortlist are Smart (by Kim Slater), She Is Not Invisible (by Marcus Sedgwick), Split Second (by Sophie McKenzie) and Dandelion Clocks (by Rebecca Westcott).
