Ten Tors Team Receive Awards from a Special Guest
Senior School, Student Success
In our Ten Tors assembly on Monday, we were honoured to be visited by Lt Col Peter Bates. Lt Col Bates is the army officer in charge of the Ten Tors event and visited the Royal High to present certificates to both the team and those who trained for the challenge but didn’t make it onto the final six. He also presented a Special Team Award in recognition of their “support, understanding and spirit throughout the Ten Tors Challenge 2016” as well as a Special Award to a member of Y10, Becca Hardcastle, in recognition of “her own outstanding resilience and the support of her team from The Royal High School.” Becca was determined to make it onto the Ten Tors team this year, but her own ill health forced her to withdraw after the first weekend of Dartmoor-based training. Becca was nominated for this award to the Ten Tors Committee by Bliss Firth, a member of the team, who contacted Lt Col Bates following the Ten Tors Challenge.
A memorable occasion for all involved.
Mr Hardcastle
