The 2016 RHS Art Exhibition
Senior School, Art
The sun shone and parents, students, governors and alumnae made their way to the Art School to delight in all that has been achieved over the past Academic Year in the Art dept. The show this year really is wonderful and it’s so full of colour and light. One of this year’s examination questions for A level was ‘Windows’ so I suppose that is understandable.
There is the usual diverse range of outcomes in evidence with all manner of media on display. It’s such a joy to welcome so many people into the Art School to help celebrate all that has been achieved by the current cohort. So many of the girls are going on to study either Art or Architecture and we look forward, very much, to welcoming them all back to next year’s exhibition where we can hear their plans for future areas of specialism.
The event is always enriched by the opportunity to vote for your favourite artist, ‘The People’s Choice’, in the exhibition. I’m very happy to say that after all the votes were counted first place was awarded to Katherine Dick and ‘Runner Up’ awarded to Serena Purslow. I am personally very proud of all who contribute to making the Art Show such a success (both students and staff), and I look forward to the next Academic Year in the knowledge that we will build upon these strengths and the next Art Show could be even better….
