Proud sponsors of Reading is Magic Festival
Senior School, Nursery and Prep School
Each year, Bath comes alive with children’s authors and illustrators sharing their love for literature and creativity. Despite the sadness that this couldn’t happen in person this year, Bath Festivals has organised an exciting week of free, online activities together with other festivals around the globe.
From 27th September - 2nd October, Reading is Magic Festival opens up a world of creativity and imagination for children with engaging digital and inclusive events for schools and families. Daily themes of the Festival are drawn from Cressida Cowell’s declaration that every child has the right to:
- Be creative for at least 15 minutes a week
- Have a planet to read on
- See themselves reflected in a book
- Have advice from a trained librarian or bookseller
- Read for the joy of it
Ian Stockley, Chief Executive of Bath Festivals, said: “The 'Reading is Magic Festival' is a first for Bath Festivals, as a we lead a partnerships of festivals, from UK, US and Canada and take children's authors, illustrators and entertainers into school class rooms, across the globe, for an engaging week of digital events, tailored for different age groups from 4 to 13+ and themed around Cressida Cowell's Children's Laureate Charter.”
“ “All free and accessible to schools, this event would not be possible without the support of the Royal High School and our other festival backers.””Ian Stockley, Chief Executive of Bath Festivals
You can access all the free, online resources at the Reading is Magic website and YouTube channel. We hope you enjoy them!
