Armistice Day 2024
Senior School
This week we marked Armistice Day across Royal High. An important feature for our school with our long historical connection with military families.
Beginning the day with a very special Remembrance Assembly, from some of the students who took part in the trip to the battlefields of Northern France, exploring areas of conflict during the First World War around Ypres and the Somme...
This was followed by an 11am two minutes silence across the Senior School. Year 13 Music Scholar Jemima played The Last Post beautifully in school. Having led similar commemorations for the last seven years, this is her last year with us and playing on Armistice Day (click here to view).
The "Red Stairs" were covered in a wonderful display of poppies made by students, particularly our boarding community, and with a special focus of a military uniform display, created by the very talented Justine Philips from our DT department.
At lunch time the Royal High Drama Scholars presented a fascinating and moving performance of monologues and scenes sharing the experiences of women during WW1 and WW2, while also fundraising for the Performing Arts Radio Mic Fund.
