There was a real feeling of excitement and adventure for everyone performing as well as watching, which is what the Nativity should be about!”

The weather may be grey and dreary, but we have already started to feel the magic of Christmas at the Royal High Prep School thanks to our wonderful Infant pupils’ fantastic performance of their Nativity ‘Shine Star, Shine’ at The Egg Theatre last Friday (18 November 2022).

Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 girls worked very hard on the preparations and were incredibly excited to perform at The Egg in front of a live audience - and on the day itself, they were fabulous and each of them shone on stage; we were so proud of them. We were also delighted to have our Year 6 Performing Arts Prefects on hand supporting and encouraging the younger girls on stage throughout the show. Thank you, Prefects!

The audience were entranced by this delightful retelling of the Nativity about a big star, who must show the way to the stable where a special baby has been born. Along the way, the star has to overcome the problem of not being able to shine, with the story ending in the stable with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. On realising Jesus’s love for all the stars, angels and people of the world, the big star got back the strength to shine again!

This was the perfect way for our girls to gain in confidence, take pride and experience a joy of performing as well as to get everyone into the Christmas spirit!”

The children told this magical story beautifully, relishing the opportunity of performing live in front of an audience and in an actual theatre. There was a real feeling of excitement and adventure for everyone performing as well as watching, which is what the Nativity should be about! Special thanks must go to Mrs Millard and Mrs Bazley for directing and choreographing the show, to Costume Carole for the gorgeous costumes and to the Infant staff for their support backstage.

Mrs Millard said “It was really wonderful to see our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils really enjoying themselves. Not only did they show real commitment and pride in learning their music and their lines, they also performed with great joy and a real fearlessness. At the Royal High Prep School, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing environment that fosters creativity and individuality allowing the girls to fully immerse themselves and enjoy each and every new experience. This was the perfect way for our girls to gain in confidence, take pride and experience a joy of performing as well as to get everyone into the Christmas spirit!”
