Seeding the Anderson shelter
Nursery and Prep School
As weather conditions are now perfect for sowing a summer lawn, we decided to seed the Anderson shelter with grass, poppies and wild flowers.
A group of Year 5 girls made use of their lunch break to help mix compost with seeds and then apply a thin layer to the roof of the Anderson shelter. We wetted the clay/soil base coat in order to allow the compost to bond to the surface and then patted the mix on. We then watered the surface thoroughly.
Hopefully the next few days will bring sunshine and showers which will help the seeds to germinate quickly. We’re hoping for shoots to appear within a couple of weeks.
Keep a careful eye out for the first shoots and let us know if you spot them.
