Showjumping success for Year 7 Jessica
Senior School, Sport, Student Success
Huge congratulations to Jessica in Year 7 who has been having great success with show jumping, representing RHSB Equestrian Team.
Jessica started riding when she was 5 and she now enjoys Pony Club and Show jumping with her pony Midge (Mullagh Pride who is a 13.2hh, 8 year old grey Connemara pony) and had the aim this year of qualifying for the NSEA (National School Equestrian Association) Championships at Hickstead.
At 11 (year 7) riding a 13.2hh, Jessica is younger and her pony is smaller than most of the competition, but he’s extremely brave which gives Jessica the confidence to compete in the bigger classes.
For Jessica's very first time representing RHSB in October, she entered an Arena Eventing competition at Rectory Farm, Jessica and Midge won the last class of the day at 1m which qualifies them for the Hickstead final in May. A few weeks later she attempted to qualify for Hickstead Elite Showjumping Championships held in June, this time competing at 1.10m, and she won their class to qualify.
A really exciting start to representing her school, Jessica is absolutely thrilled with both wins. Congratulations!
