“ Thanks to their tremendous efforts, both Royal High students have now been selected to compete for Avon Schools Athletics in the English Schools Cross-Country Championships in March.”
Well done to Lottie and Sofia who competed for Avon Schools Athletics in the South West Schools Cross-Country Championships at Blaise Castle on Saturday 4 February.
The Championships saw all seven counties in the South West coming together with a total of 55 runners in the Senior Girls Category running a distance of 3.84km at the Blaise Castle Estate.
We are delighted for both girls with Sofia placing 15th in a time of 13.41mins, taking 2nd place for the Avon team, and Lottie placing 33rd in a time of 14.31mins, taking 6th place for the Avon team.
Thanks to their tremendous efforts, both Royal High students have now been selected to compete for Avon Schools Athletics in the English Schools Cross-Country Championships in March. We are so thrilled for the girls as not only is this greatly deserved, it will be an amazing opportunity. They will be competing with the best athletes from each of the 46 counties in England for the honour of being the best in the Country. We wish them the very best of luck and cannot wait to hear all about their experiences of the Championships which will be held on Saturday 18 March at Wollaton Park in Nottingham.
Sofia said “This was my best race of the season so far despite struggling with injury for most of January. I really enjoyed the course and managed to place 2nd for Avon county having come 5th for Avon two weeks before. Overall I finished 15th in the South-West, dropping several places in my final kick. I am really looking forwards to representing Avon at the English Schools XC championships during March in Nottingham.
