Visit from TeamBath's Netball Super League players
Senior School, Sport
“ Both players who have also won Netball Europe gold with England at U21 level dropped by to give our students a talk about what it means to be an elite athlete.”
Our Senior netballers were thrilled to be visited by Jayda Pechova and Sophie Kelly, two of the most exciting young netball talents in TeamBath’s squad for the Super League - the country's premier netball competition featuring 10 of the best franchises from across Great Britain.
Both players who have also won Netball Europe gold with England at U21 level dropped by to give our students a talk about what it means to be an elite athlete. They were very friendly and forthcoming about sharing information; answering all our netballers’ questions about their training methods, life as a TeamBath athlete and even what music they enjoyed listening to before matches.
They also shared practical tips and answered more technical netball questions, and really helped motivate the girls by urging them to “make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.” It was also really helpful for our girls to hear the two TeamBath squad members talk about times when their paths to success had not always gone quite so smoothly, and what they did to overcome these challenges.
Thank you to both Jayda and Sophie for coming in and giving our netballers such a frank and insightful glimpse into life as an elite athlete, and to TeamBath and Mrs Layla Slade, our Head of Netball, for arranging the visit.
