Finalists' Recital - Young Musician of the Year 2022
After a day of performance and musicianship by over 100 students, Mr Bradbury, Director of Music at Royal High School Bath introduced the audience to the evening Finalists' Recital by introducing the Adjudicators, and saying: "I have no idea how they are going to choose a winner from this evening's performances, the standard of musicianship is the best I have ever known it - you are in for a real treat."
The students - all winners of their particular category gave a truly bewitching recital including classical and contemporary pieces. The standard of musical talent was extremely high in this year's Young Musician of the Year competition, with Hannah Cheung earning the title of Junior Young Musician of the Year, and Megan Ong being crowned Senior Young Musician of the Year.
Hannah entered both the Piano and String categories and entered the final playing Prelude No.1 - Bach on her cello. Megan also played the cello with her rendition of 1st
mvt Cello Concerto - Saint Saens.
The event was adjudicated by Mr Peader Townsend, a composer, arranger and percussionist, and Mr Joel Thomas, Director of Blackheath Centre for Singing , Conductor and Composer who gave each of the girls feedback and constructive comment to enable them to continue to develop and improve as performers. Both adjudicators gave particularly enthusiastic feedback to the Ensemble Winners who delivered an emotional performance of Coldplay's 'Yellow'.

It was a truly beautiful evening spent in our All- Steinway Music School and showcased the increasingly high standard of talent within our school.
