Year 3 enjoy woodworking lesson
Nursery and Prep School, Prep, Design Technology
“ Design and Technology is a practical and much-valued subject at RHSB and we feel it is important to encourage creativity and innovation through design, and to get our pupils learning and developing design skills from an early age.”
Last week our Year 3 pupils visited our Senior School’s Design Technology department for a woodwork lesson. With the help of some of the DT scholars, they designed and made wooden Roman bridges as part of their time travelling theme.
This is a great example of how as a through school, our Prep pupils benefit from all of the state-of-the-art facilities as students at our Senior School. Our dedicated DT workshops have a range of highly advanced resources, such as a laser cutting machine, 4-axis routing machines and a brand new 3D printer, and it was a fantastic opportunity for our Prep pupils to get hands-on and to learn to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional objects.

A big thank you to our DT department and the wonderful group of DT scholars on hand to help and support the younger pupils from Prep. Our Year 3s had a great time and cannot wait to come back again!
