Year 6 WW2 day at Steam
Nursery and Prep School
Last week, Year 6 visited Steam, Museum of the Great Weston Railway, for a fantastic World War II themed day.
Wearing authentic WWII costumes, complete with gas mask boxes and identity cards, our Year 6 girls embraced the spirit of the occasion.
During the day, we had two workshops focusing on ‘Evacuation’ and ‘The changing roles of women during wartime’ and the girls got to role play, dress up, and listen to accounts of life in wartime Britain. We also held a two-minute silence at eleven o’clock for remembrance. We made some notable links with our learning in school. The girls found out about how the railways were used to support the war effort and had the opportunity to explore the museum in groups.
We received excellent feedback about our girls from the museum and it was clear from the buzz that the girls got a lot from the experience.
