Meet our staff

Hadrian Briggs has been at Royal High Bath for many years as Academic Deputy and has lead on all matters relating to the curriculum and teaching and learning. Hadrian has been instrumental in the advancement of the school's values: Girls First, Excellence, Bravery and Kindness and as Acting Head, Hadrian will ensure that the Royal High Bath continues to develop its strength as a beacon of world-class education.

Claire leads the team of staff at the Prep School overseeing the curriculum and care of the children. A keen saxophonist, Claire joined the Royal High School in September 2019 from Sidcot Junior School.

Elizabeth Cunningham leads on the pastoral care of the students, supporting the progress of each and every girl from Years 7 to 13. Elizabeth manages the day to day school routine, oversees the tutor system and wellbeing programme, as well as teaching English.

Mandy Ladbury-Webb leads our thriving Sixth Form, both in terms of academic performance and pastoral welfare, across both the A Level and IB pathways. Her mission is to nurture and empower the next generation of young women to achieve their potential in the modern world. Appointed to the post in September 2024, Mandy has previously held roles at Churcher’s College in Hampshire as Assistant Head of Sixth Form, where she was responsible for UCAS Applications and the Oxbridge programme; at St Catherine's School in Melbourne, Australia, as the Mathematics Enrichment Coordinator; and most recently at Royal High School Bath as Head of Year 7 for three years.

James leads on digital strategy for the School, working closely on timetabling, teaching and learning, assessment and reporting, and academic evenings. He teaches Physics and IB Theory of Knowledge. He has been part of the Royal High School family since September 2013.

Our new Director of Boarding Allison Spillman comes to us from Ashville College where she was Head of Boarding, Deputy Head Pupils and DSL. Allison has an extensive background in boarding education commencing her boarding career at Caterham School. She has also worked at Wycombe Abbey for eight years as a Housemistress, Head of Boarding and Assistant Head before moving to Shenzhen, China to be part of the Founding Faculty of a hybrid school there. This provided Allison with vital research for her MA in Education (Leadership & Management) from Exeter University before returning to the UK to take up her role at Ashville. At Royal High, Allison is responsible for the ongoing development of boarding and is Housemistress of School House.

Ellen leads the vital support services team at both the Senior and Prep Schools and oversees financial operations, estates and soft services to ensure efficient running of our school.

Sallie is a former Royal School girl and leads the Admissions and Marketing department, with a primary focus on the recruitment and retention of pupils locally, nationally and internationally. Sallie has held similar roles at Downe House and British School in The Netherlands.
